FITTING A DISTRIBUTOR – YOU DECIDE.
A thermostat which is integrated into the distributor provides the significant advantage that the settings, once made, cannot be changed so easily. This gives you the upper hand when setting the temperature and other parameters.
You are lying peacefully asleep in your bed - but outside, it is beginning to snow. Slowly, thick snowflakes cover the entrance and roof of your house.
Thanks to your fully automated control system, the ice and snow sensor detects the precipitation. Since it is also cold enough, the heating system switches on immediately - because the snow melting process should start immediately once snow starts to fall.
It stops snowing - the automated control system also detects this, and turns down the heating. Your entrance is free from snow.
You can enjoy a relaxing second cup of coffee at breakfast, and watch your neighbours clearing the snow.
While everyone else is still shovelling snow, you get into your car on time, and leave your driveway - cleared in a timely manner by your intelligent, fully automated frost protection control system, which also stopped the heating process when it was no longer required.

THE INITIAL SITUATION
An open-air heating system in asphalt should keep all exterior junction points free from ice and snow, in order to guarantee safe entry and exit movements. The generated connected load was however deemed insufficient to power the open-air heating for all ten junctions (a total of 800m²) at the same time. In addition, the depth of the floor structure would need to be closely observed.
THE ETHERMA SOLUTION
Because of the low connected load, ETHERMA decided on a combination of an intelligent, automated control system and a peak load management system. As the upper access junctions are more exposed to environmental influences, the junction load management system was programmed to prioritise.
